The Friends are fundraising to provide a Magic Table Happiness Program to the Elderly Care wards at the PRUH
The cost is £3,600 to provide a single Magic Table subscription for one year. We hope to provide two Magic Tables at a total cost of £7,200. If the benefit to patients are measurable, the ongoing subscriptions would probably be funded out of the hospital’s NHS budget. Our provision is for the Elderly Care team to evaluate the benefits over the unfunded first year.
Elderly patients with dementia or cognitive decline are often long term patients in the hospital. The Magic Table provides mental and physical stimulation and engagement. Use in other hospitals and care homes has seen a big improvement in the cognitive and physical ability of patients and residents.
